Awards season is the ultimate in glam fashion, and the Oscars are the pinnacle. Unfortunately, this year wasn’t as jaw-dropping as I had hoped it would be, but there were still several looks that caught my eye.
Armani Privé had a standout night (not surprising considering the fashion house’s red carpet past) – just look at these three stunners. Naomi Watts might have been my favorite of the night – classic shape with beautiful color and texture (plus sparkle)! Charlotte Rampling looked classic, age-appropriate and timeless – particularly love the long sleeves. Cate Blanchett, as usual, made a statement in an edgy, yet feminine gown with eye-catching details.
Several members of “Young Hollywood” proved they have Oscar fashion chops. I know I said that Naomi Watts might have been my favorite – that might is included because of Saoirse Ronan in Calvin Klein. The gorgeous deep green color (an ode to Ireland), delicate beading, plunging neckline (without being gratuitous), hair, makeup, jewelry – every part of this look was on point. I’m not usually a huge fan of asymmetrical clothing, but the vibrant color of Olivia Munn’s Stella McCartney was so stunning against her features, that I had to include it. Jennifer Lawrence (in her usual Dior) was Jennifer Lawrence – what more can I say?
Others fashion hits from the Oscars: Jennifer Garner in Atelier Versace, Emily Blunt in Prada, Charlize Theron in Dior (although, let’s be real, she could wear a paper bag and look like a goddess), and Rachel McAdams in August Getty (the back was insane!).
An honorable mention goes to Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton (I wasn’t a huge fan of the dress in still shots, but it moved beautifully).
